MacCoy Insurance Brokers Limited is a full service Insurance brokerage firm first established in May of 1945 by W. Ritchie MacCoy, MBE.

The W. Ritchie MacCoy Award

The firm is proud that the Independent Insurance Brokers of Nova Scotia (IBANS) founded the W. Ritchie MacCoy Award in 1979 to honor his contribution in the field of general insurance. Recipients of this award exemplify the quality of service and the level of performance demanded of all brokers. Gordon R. MacCoy, second generation and current Chairman of MacCoy Insurance is one of four recipients and the only broker from Cape Breton to receive this prestigious award.

MacCoy Insurance is currently owned and operated by H Ritchie MacCoy, third generation.

H. Ritchie MacCoy, President, with 24 years experience, manages the commercial and personal underwriting aspects of the firm. Ritchie has numerous insurance courses and has attended several national and international advanced commercial insurance seminars.

The firm continues to be involved with the Brokers Association as well as the Canadian Federation of Independent Business. Our twelve sales and service representatives are licensed brokers in the Province of Nova Scotia, trained and capable of providing full service for all insurance requirements. The principal is also licensed to provide insurance service in the Province of New Brunswick.

The firm is one of the largest commercial lines brokerages on Cape Breton Island. Personal lines contracts include two of the largest insurers in Canada.
